Saturday 3.
Took the above snapshot (of a Suffolk punch) at our town show last year. The show's due to take place again this day week, when I will try to take more snaps.
In workshop this morning. Scrabble club this afternoon. Then this evening we went to a concert in St. Mary's Church, in aid of Church funds, and given by the children of Hadleigh High School. I had no idea that our youngsters in town had such musical talent. They have a Swing Band which played traditional (?) rock music, a Voice Squad (which turned out to be an excellent mixed choir of about eight boys and over thirty girls - the usual proportion), and six (mainly vocal) soloists. All were very enthusiastic, and therefore very good. I found it really reassuring that we have some youngsters who obviously enjoy getting stuck in and giving an enjoyable and worthwhile performance. I just wish we could recruit some of them for our Church Choir. The only grey head among the performers is a neighbour of ours, a retired teacher at the High School who plays the trumpet and doubles up as Town Crier when needed. It was a lovely evening.
Goodnight all.
