Monday.
Set out at 10a.m., picked up David and Sue (other end of town) and drove to Liz's cottage (see above photo) a few miles north of Norwich. As you can see her house is a typical Norfolk one, built of knapped flints and brick. We pottered around Liz's garden, swapping gardening hints, then went in to lunch. At Liz's request I made up a jug of Pimm's to mutual friend John C.T.'s recipe, which is a little drier than standard. Lunch consisted of a spicy mushroom starter, followed by cold meats, fish, and hot an cold vegetable dishes. Pudding was an excellent bread and butter pudding. Had tea/coffee in sitting room, and were joined by Liz's daughter Margaret, and Margaret's two young daughter's -of three and a half years, and twenty months - both absolute little fair haired charmers. Spent about forty five minutes playing with them, then tore ourselves away and drove home, arriving back at about 5.30 p.m. Been a lovely day out. Really will have to get down to some work tomorrow.
