Thursday 5.

This is the head of Simon of Sudbury (Rector of St. Gregory's Church). He lost it in 1381, when he was beheaded by Watt Tylor's men, during the rebellion. His body was buried in London, but his head was returned to St. Gregory's Church in Sudbury, where it remains in the vestry. Haven't seen it, but this photo is on display in a side chapel.
Bit macabre. Sorry.

Donna eis requiem.
He and all such.
I can understand folk getting killed in troubled times, but I just don't get why people muck about with other folks dead bits for anything other than medical research and education. It reflects a seriously unhealthy mentality. I don't care if I rot, burn or get fed to the hounds once I'm proper dead - but I don't want to be kept around to be poked and pried at.

'pooter says she don't want to be buried - her v-word is nonsubo
dog latin for don't put me under!
