This morning walked into town and attended lip reading class. Think it went well. When walking home stopped about a hundred yards from home and took above snapshot looking along Tinker's Lane.
There'd been a heavy shower this morning and on arriving home found the last two parrot tulips lying flat along the ground looking like dead snakes, so cut them off and took them in to Ann who put them in water (as per below photo). I don't know if parrot tulip is the correct name (probably Macaw Tulip is nearer), but don't they look dramatic/exotic?

Yup! they look even more exotic than dead snakes!!!
I believe they were so named because their colour-ways tend to parrot the bright plumage of exotic avians...(possibly even parrots)
Parrot Tulips are defined by petals that are feathered, curled, twisted, or waved; usually the flowers are very large and brightly coloured. They were developed from mutations of particular late-flowering tulips, and from tulips in the Triumph class. As a result, some are late spring flowering, and some are mid-spring flowering. Heights also vary somewhat. Varieties include:- Apricot Parrot (bright apricot-colored, pink striped), Black Parrot (purple-black), Blue Parrot (mauve-blue), Estella Rynveldt (red and creamy white), Fantasy (deep pink), Flaming Parrot (yellow and red), Orange Favourite (orange), Rococo (red and green), Texas Flame (yellow and red), Texas Gold (bright yellow) & White Parrot (OK so it's white but it's very prettily sculpted.)
I like the notion that you *think* lip-reading class went well.

I thought that was budgerigars rather than parrot tulips- don't think they've been taught to SAY anything yet? They just look good.
