Hi Lori. These are fairly rare wild flowers that grow in grassland. Ann bought these in a pot in a garden centre, and they seem to have'taken'. Cheers, Ann and Mike.
I'm sorry the snake's head frit Hilary, but I can quite see how it might!I've always loved fritilaries and this delicate sub-species must be one of the most beautiful. Jude usually has a few around the back garden.
I've just had a poke about outside and there's one snake's-head and a couple of albino fritilaries in bloom beside some drum-stick primulas.
