Thursday.

These  are   not really  mystery objects, but can you please tell me in what year they were made?  and where?

Probably made on planet Earth in the late post-Christian era. Or for a wilder more specific guess, Birmingham late 19th century, although I have little confidence in the latter answer. I hardly liked to guess, but you know my enthusiasm for publishing my ignorance. I'd be happier answering questions about mitochondrial transfulgence or mono-modular trans-genesis.

Dear Big-Bruv,
All your items have been interesting, rare and curious; but always teasers to we who have fewer opportunities to handle, study and admire such historic byegones and antiquities. I suspect these brass candlesticks may prove to be much earlier than my guess; but there is no better way of becoming informed than by displaying ones ignorance to an expert.

Please see the blog entry for Saturday 24th August for the answer.

A rough guess would be they were made around 198 years, one month and five days ago, but my memory isn't what it was, so I might have got it wrong. I don't think I can be quite as accurate as to place, but let's go with the old smoke?

Hi Rough. Well at least you got th place right - London or Birmingham; and you were within ten or twelve yeas of the correct date. I call that pretty good.
