Wednesday.

Can anyone tell me why someone writes the above photographed doggerell ? It is awful stuff. In the first two lines there is a false rhyme - home/own- dreadful!  And as it goes on it gets worse.  In my opinion  an intelligent seven year old could better it.  I'm a reasonable chap as a general rule, but this sort of rubbish makes me think  that I'll  try being cirmudgeonly for a while.!!!!!

I'm astounded at your reaction to that notice . It's not Wordsworth, though I never thought too much of his stuff, but it's heartfelt and genuine and not at all to be mocked. What's wrong with the rhyming of Home and Own. I'm not a poet but I think they work perfectly together.

As an old curmudgeon of considerable expertise, I wondered why you spelled (or even spelt) it with an 'i'? To add a little extra sparkle to the joy which this enquiry must have brought you here are some bonus words:-
Synonyms for curmudgeon - noun - person who complains a lot
bear, bellyacher, bug, crab, crank, crosspatch, curmudgeon (The real deal), faultfinder, griper, grouser (Larry the Lamb spoke highly of a Mr. Grouser, adding a respectful 'sir' whenever addressing him.), growler, grumbler, grump, kicker, malcontent, moaner.

Nana Trower would have considered it a jokey way of telling townies to behave theirselves proper in a decent country church.
