Wednesday.

Been a pleasant day. At 7a.m. we walked to church where Ann was deaconing at early service. At midday we drove through icy Suffolk countryside (shown above) to Monks Eleigh where we went to our favourite tavern for lunch, and to finalise arrangements about our family lunch there to celebrate our golden wedding anniversary next month (cries of astonishment that we are old enough to have a fifty year anniversary would be much appreciated at this point).

On the way home we called (by arrangement) on friend Sylvia for tea.  When we got home we found a note from our postman that two parcels had been left at the sorting office. Whizzed back into town to sorting office in time to retrieve two parcels containing antique items (both early candlesticks needing some slight repair for stock) purchased on e bay.

This evening we had our usual game of scrabble..........

by our fireside (see below). Or rather - see tomorrow's blog entry.
Been a pleasant day (as stated) but a long one -  So : Goodnight All.

P.s. Don't know about anyone else, but since he 'went dark', I do miss that entertaining idiot  Four Dinners's caustic comments.

Crying with astonishment as instructed now, sir.

Well done that man. At ease.

I am truly astonished dear Bruv that the time has slipped away so instantaneously that it has left neither tarnish nor blemish upon your youthful physiques and spirited outlooks. As your rather inappropriately designated "Best-Man" I find myself mystified at becoming elderly and infirm of mind and body whilst my senior brother and his fair lady skipped along for half a century blithely forgetting to grow old.

Dear Carl. If you last sentence is even partly true, then that's the only thing that it is usful to have forgotten.
P.s. Could you let me know whether you will be able to grace the occasion with your presence? The landlady of the Swan Inn would be glad to have some idea of the number of guests. I think it tots up to thirty four invitees.

Bless you dear Bruv, Heartfelt apologies but considering the singularly fragile condition in which both Jude and I find ourselves, I must tender my regrets at being unable to attend such an auspicious family event. Believe me they are most sincere double-barreled regrets. Firstly on account of missing out on seeing all the family together and secondly because I hate to let you down. On a good-day we could make it at a pinch and it would take us a month to recover - but I really can't remember the last good-day so reason cautions us to not make the effort and become a dampening liability at your jollifications.
I know you will all have a jolly good thrash-cum-knees-up and that cheers us no end.
All kindly blessings and hope we're in better shape for your diamond do!
Love, Carl'n'Jude

Dear Carl and Judy. I am more sorry than I can say to hear that. Partly for our own sake - it would have been lovely to get us ALL together, but mainly sorry to hear that you are both so poorly; but you know best on that, of course. The old saying springs to mind that only the wearer knows where the shoe pinches.
Sorry too, that we won't be getting together this weekend - but we must remedy that one as soon as is practicable.
Much love to you both - Mike and Ann.

This damned shoe pinches all the way to the top of my head and back down to the other foot Bruv!
