Thursday.

In view of the recently announced increase in the cost of postage stamps (i.e. 30% on first class stamps, and  40 % on second class stamps) I take this opportunity to wish all my readers, well in advance, a very Happy Next Christmas.

As you may have noticed Mike, I gave up postal communications long since. I find that the availability of virtual greetings with colour, pictures, animation, music, and room for a personal message has entirely filled the eco-niches of the majority of material personal communications. For a very few pounds a year I can send as many messages to as many people as I wish anywhere in the world. I must have saved a small forest worth of card and paper already and I don't give anyone the eternal problem of 'They're too nice to throw away but we've already got a dozen cupboards full of pretty cards with kind wishes!' It really is more considerate of the recipients (and the environment) to go virtual.
