Thank you, Crowbard. Ruth Rendell says of our guildhall that it is better than the one at Lavenham. I don't know about 'better', but is is certainly older, the Lavenham one having been built early in the 1500s, and though no one knows quite when ours was built, I have been informed by one of our local architectural historians, that it is first mentioned in the records in 1386.
