Still trying . This is a photograph of Snailwell Church near Newmarket. It is well worth a visit. The tower was built in 1070 and the rest of the church appears to date from the 1400s (they tell us).

Great to see your back in control Mike, I was imagining you and the 'pooter glowering unblinkingly at each other for 4 weeks until the 'pooter blinked first.
Lovely late Saxon round-tower.

You can see the early-Norman influence in the cylindrical quality of the tower, I think the Saxons favoured a tapering tower with very thick walls at the base.

Very good Mike. Now what about our Scrabble game?

You don't appear to be receiving the comments I've posted ~ or were they to uncivil to publish, perhaps?

Mind you, upon checking, I find I haven't received any since the 14th of July; but that's not surprising considering the lightweight nature of my blogs.
Perhaps blogger's post-man is on holiday?
