Friday.

Very short blog entry today. Photo is of a young gentleman enjoying a shady spot in our churchyard to make telephone calls. This blog entry  is for the benefit of a gentleman in Australia. And I DO have the approval and permish of the Australian gentleman's Mama (and the young gentleman's maternal Grand Mama - same lady) to publish this.

Warm regards to the Australian uncle from Mike, the blogger, and your family and friends in Highdale (note attempts at discretion, which one of my daughters insists I use when blogging, though I don't really see the point - sorry Nea).

Thomas Gray could have written an elegy about an antipodean lad in Suffolk speaking to his uncle half a world away whilst musing on the lives of the departed rustics beneath the grassy couch between the communicants.

Hello Crowbard. I didn't mean the 'phone call was for the gentleman in Australia (as the 'phone was one of these modern portable jobs I don't suppose it was strong enough to reach the uncle in the outer colonies. No, I meant the blog entry was for the benefit of the uncle in Ozzie-land who reads the blog to stay in touch with the doings of his family in Highdale.

P.s. It's rather annoying that when using bracket signs in comments, I almost invariably forget to 'close brackets'.

Starting is often more interesting than finishing, Mike, anyway the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Words will be happy that you leave them an escape route from their parenthetic captivity.
