Our friend Brenda, and Ann, having coffee in the garden, having first done a little gentle shopping in the town. Good day for it, I suppose. Although, being a bloke, I am no judge of what constitutes a good day for shopping.

Ladies tell me a good day for shopping is any day of the week ending with the letters d - a - y !
Shopping is to get, as quickly as possible, what you need. I am very minimalist in this area. Most things are available on the Internet although I must say that shopping for food and drink is not a chore.
I like (and agree with) your definition of shopping, Halcyon. But I think it is a very masculine one. Since antique shops have become virtually extinct I have not really enjoyed shopping.
