Friday.

Dear Crowbard, please have a look at these two pictures. You can see that the Italian crossbow has now been strung. It looks better, doesn't it? In both pictures I hope you will be able to see a bronze age short sword (the blade being about eighteen inches long. I bought it at a country auction where it was catalogued as Chinese. I think it might well be Persian (Luristan), and would value your opinion? Over to you.

Just e-mailed you with pictures ~ definitely a Luristani piece to my mind around 1200 - 1000 BC. as the Ozzies say "Emma Chizzitt mate".

Hi Mike,
What a lovely thing that is.
I firmly consider your bronze sword to be a Luristani artefact; while the Luristanis made some swords which might initially be mistaken for Chinese I believe this style was peculiar to Luristan. The Luristanis tended to make the hilts and blades separately and fabricate them from the parts, the early Chinese swords were cast all in one piece as far as I know.

The Italian stone-bow is lovely, it looks fabulous now it has been re-harnessed; my compliments to your cord-wrangler.
