Thursday 1.

Been a good year for butterflies. Took a snapshot of this red admiral on our garden table yesterday evening, as we were on our way out for a 'shared meal' with friends. Our hostess had rather a good idea. She baked jacket potatoes and asked everyone to bring along 'fillings'. Ann did a chile con carne which was very popular. Others were a coronation chicken, prawns in a cream sauce, and various others. The jacket potatoes were of medium size so that we could go back for second helpings, and try other fillings. There were puddings and a cheese board, but these were not really necessary - just a courtesy, followed by tea/coffee. A very pleasant and relaxing evening.

Lovely recipes, but a bit of chopped ham, coleslaw and grated cheese all forked together makes a nice filling too. Spuds are very versatile by way of fillability!

Jessie's Paul was saying they had seen a lot of butterflies in the garden this year so I sorted out a Collins Pocket-book of Butterflies for him. I'd forgotten that the Cabbage Whites without spots were ladies - but it makes sense that the dotty ones are blokes!
