Sunday.

Lupins, fuchsias and Michaelmas daisies in the garden.

Church this morning. Ann serving. Self in choir. From Church drove straight over to Lavenham to celebrate friend John's 70th birthday. His wife Margaret had laid on a buffet lunch for about twenty family and friends. Family covered five generations from baby of eight weeks to his great-great-grandmother of 93 (Margaret's mother). Felt very privileged to have been invited. Superb meal, lovely afternoon. Birthday cake (made and decorated to reflect John's interest in bonsai trees by Margaret and John's daughter) was cut at about five p.m. and party broke up soon after. Very pleasant afternoon had by all. Played a two handed game of scrabble this evening. Nearly bedtime now. Goodnight all.

Do you mean his birthday cake was what Ann used to refer to as a 'saw-dust pudding' or was it redolent of shrunken trees in some other manner?

'Pooter is getting overly familiar, or she may be developing a bit of a crush on you Dear boy - she has just given Micks as the v-word!

I'm jealous.

Hi Lori. Isn't it?

Hi Crowbard. Neither. She had put a suitable greeting and name on top of a round, iced cake. And around the sides were drawings and low relief sculptures of little trees. Very effective. Put me on my mettle to come up with something new for this year's Christmas cake's decoration.
Regards, Mike.
