Mystery Object.
______________
Haven't had one of these for a while, mystery object that is. What is the above? When was it made, where, and for what purpose (quite a specific one). Eggs should give a fair idea of size. They are ordinary, standard, chickens' eggs. Good guessing. You'll probably all know, anyway.
It's a Spice cupboard made in the Orient in 1752.
ReplyDeleteCharles II oak spice cupboard 1660-1685 ?
ReplyDeleteA beautiful bit of timber, Mike, quality workmanship too.

ReplyDeleteHi Rog, I take it you meant the spice was made in the Orient?....
ReplyDeleteOr were the Japanese faking our designer goods even then?
I meant Leyton Orient Crowbard, centre of excellence for chippies. A bit like Whitby.
ReplyDeleteI think you scored there Rog, but it's a game of two halves. But as for Whitby, surely that is famous for its jet as invented by Frank Whitby or similar?
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile, back in the real world, I used to work at the Whetstone plant where Frank Whittle tested his first jet engines. His raised brick test-beds are still there.
Very good Crowbard - isn't the English language marvellous!
ReplyDeleteYes Rog, it is a rollicking delight and source of endless confusion to natives and foreigners alike.
