Drove across to Stretham yesterday to have a pub lunch with Ann's brothers, and sister-in-law Sue. Stopped a few miles from here to take the above snapshot of Thorpe Moriuex Church nestling in its hollow.
If my Norman-French is still holding up I take it Thorpe Morieux means the Hamlet of Dead-Truths? (Seems strange to think of the 'brutish' Normans referring to the classic Latin and Greek languages for Mori and Eu while adding the Gallic 'x' to pluralize the name!)
